Types of distillation and Definitions
Distillation: The function of distillation to separate, by vaporization, a liquid of miscible and volatile substance into its individual component or, in some cases into group of components. Types of distillation :- 1. Simple Distillation 2. Flash Distillation 3. Azeotropic Distillation 4. Extractive Distillation 5. Short path Distillation 6. Vacuum Distillation Simple Distillation:- In this type of Distillation we provide energy to given mixture of solvent or product to get temperature at which it boil and then the vapour will condensed and we get our product. Flash Distillation: Flash is a single stage separation technique. A liquid mixture feed is pumped through a heater to raise the temperature and enthalpy of the mixture. It then flows through a valve and the pressure is reduced, causing the liquid to partially vaporize. Once the mixture enters a big enough volume, the liquid and vapor separate. Azeotropic Distillation: A third component comp...
